The Instituto de Diseño y Fabricación (IDF) –Design and Manufacturing Institute– is a multidisciplinary research center, made up of two different entities, located at the Polytechnic University of Valencia: 1) Technological Institute of a private and non-profit nature, formed by an association of companies and institutions, mainly located in the Valencian Community; 2) Public University Research Institute.

The Institute develops research projects in aspects related to Industry 4.0 within the Automotive Sector (collaborative robotics, augmented reality, analytics, etc.). Development of driving assistance systems through the sensorization of vehicles and drivers. Design and implementation of quality control systems, both superficial and dimensional (metrology).

The Institute has strong know-how in automated driving both in motor vehicles and industrial and agricultural vehicles, vehicle and driver evaluation, as well as artificial intelligence applications applied to quality control and robot guidance/programming. The Design and Manufacturing Institute is integrated by the Assessment Center of Adapted Vehicles and disabled drivers supported by SEPIVA (Security and Industrial Promotion of Valencia) and aimed at becoming a specific MOT (Compulsory Vehicle Inspection).
